The World’s first electric passenger airplane takes flight

With the birth of electric cars (Tesla), drones and electric war planes, it comes as no shocker to hear of the electric passenger airplane.

Alice, the first all-electric Passenger airplane created by Eviation, takes flight on the 27th of September, 2022. This happened at the Washington’s grant county international airport. The plane was said to fly at an altitude of 3,500 feet for its 8 minutes inaugural flight. The battery technology of this airplane is likened to that of a mobile phone or an electric car with charging capacity of 30 minutes.

The air plane has a carrying capacity of nine passenger and it will only be able to fly for an hour for about 440 nautical miles. Currently, 3 different versions of the Airplane are in prototype stages and the company is working on developing a Federal Aviation Administration certified aircraft through 2025 followed by a year(s) of testing before it is delivered to customers (Source: CNN).

Netflix opening its game studio with inclusion of mobile app games

We have to give it to Netflix for innovative thinking and long – term solutions. We all know how the journey began for the company and now they have decided to take their vision a step further by building a world class game studio.

This would be their first in-house video game studio in Helsinki, Finland. They would currently expand their empire into mobile games. Although Netflix games have been live for a while, they are still set on pushing it into the market and retaining their Audience.

These games can be downloaded and played on mobile devices (Androids, tablets & iPhone) but are not available on other platforms.

Apple will be making the Iphone 14 in India as a part of its diversification plan

Just like how Apple has not ceased in bringing new innovation, products and packages of its consumers same apply with their business plan. The company has started making its new iPhone 14 in India. They are currently on the look to diversify the supply chain away from China.

Notwithstanding, the company still manufactures bulk of its products in China but in recent times they have started producing their latest devices in India.

In addition, there have been predictions from analysts that Apple would reduce its dependance rate on China. This new plan has brought about a great change in strategy especially in this time where tech companies are looking for alternatives to China post-Covid.

Expansion of 5G network in Nigeria by MTN

It is no news that there is a current evolution of generation technology, from 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and now 5G which China and the United States are ahead in the use. The CEO, Karl Toriola has assured that the telecommunication will apply the same amount of push just as was used in expanding 2G, 3G and 4G across the country. He also made it know that the major investment is going to come between now and the end of the year.

5G Technology is set to revolutionize internet access across the continent. It is going to be a new dawn of life-altering advancements.

It is important to know that currently 5G is only available on routers in the country.

Nomura welcomes digital assets in Switzerland after months of experimentation

With the rise in digital assets, the Japanese investment bank has decided to embrace digital assets. The bank opened a new arm called the Laser Digital Holdings AG.

This is incorporated in Switzerland and will provide value in areas of digital assets.

The aim of this is to diversify the business which would cover areas such as secondary trading, venture capital and investment products for clients. They plan on creating digital asset subsidiary.

Suspension of audit fee for Tech hubs by the Lagos State Government

The Lagos State Government recently announced that the state will be carrying out audit in tech hubs in the state between September and November and as such tech hubs are mandated to pay an annual fee of 150,000. This news was received with a lot of backlash and criticism. Majority feel the introduction of this “Tax” will be restricting the growth in the tech space especially for new start-ups or innovations.

However, in the public statement released, The State Government suspends the planned audit fee and made it known that the fee was not generate revenue but as a base to cover the costs of safety audits on every facility in the state.
